Biography
Associate Professor Eleni Bekiari obtained an MD (1994), a PhD (2008) and an MSc (2016) in Medical Research Methodology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 2014 she was appointed Lecturer of Medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is currently working as Associate Professor of Medicine and Diabetes at the Second Medical Department and the Diabetes Centre at Ippokratio Hospital Thessaloniki, and Investigator at the Clinical Research and Evidence-Based Medicine Unit of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her main interests include evidence-based medicine, geriatrics, and diabetes. Her research interests include knowledge synthesis (systematic reviews and meta-analyses), evidence-based practice, and clinical decision-making in medicine. Dr Bekiari has published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles, many of them in top-ranking medical journals (BMJ, Annals of Internal Medicine, Lancet Diabetes Endocrinology, Diabetes Care) with more than 1,600 citations.
